Love In The Words of The Doctor

Doctor Who will always have a special place in my heart (if it’s not clear already). The messages are strong, characters even stronger. The Doctor most of all. He tried his best to be there for people not because he has to or because he even needs to. He helps because above anything else, he loves the human race. He loves their strength, he loves their minds, he loves, well, he loves their love.

David Tennant and Matt Smith as the 10th and 11th Doctors

During the 11th Doctors era, in The Name of The Doctor, he tells Clara the reason he calls himself The Doctor because it’s a promise to help. In The Day of The Doctor this is expected, “Never cruel nor cowardly, never give up, never give in” He loves mankind for their perseverance and strength to keep going, even after death.

Season 8, Death In Heaven

In Death In Heaven, Clara’s love, Danny, dies and becomes a cyberman, incapable of emotion. However, Danny refuses commands given to him and chooses to hug Clara instead.

The reason behind this? Because, according to The Doctor, “Love, it’s not an emotion, love is a promise and he will never hurt her”

Love is more then just a feeling that you have, love is a promise to protect and cherish no matter what happens. Even after everything, loving someone will never involve hurting them or doing things for your own personal gain. Love is selfless. Love is powerful. And Love, Love is a promise.
